Amy and I had a lovely Christmas this year. We got to see friends and family and spend the better part of a week just relaxing with nephews, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts and uncles. At the Chalupsky house we spent lots of time playing bumper pool, settlers of catan, and cards. At my parents we played a heck of a lot of nintendo wii. I've officially decided that I hate the game 'Mario Party.' I have plenty of words on that I won't share. On the other hand, Wii sports is an absolute blast, and there is an amazing game called lego star wars where you go around hacking the heck out of little lego star wars figurines with sweet moves asnd a lightsaber. I had a fairly consistant (though not overwhelming) desire to get back to writing music and promoting Polyphone Music. Both because of my sense of duty as a provider and because the creative process brings me absurd amounts of satisfaction.
My sister had her baby this month. His name is Corban and he is about as laid back as they come. He's a wonderful baby. I really look forward to getting to know him.
Phil and Michelle Cacka came down before Christmas and did a photo shoot with me. Frankly I felt and still feel I am nearly as good looking as most of beautiful Portland types that decorate the streets. Nonetheless I got a bunch of free pictures and they look very good. You should check them out, along with Phil and all things via lucis.
My favorite gift this year was a 6 speed road bike that Luke Zedwick built for me. It was funded by my wife (with a little help from my personal savings) but Luke did the foot work. It is beautiful and fast. I am very thankful for my new bike, and am hopeful it will help me loose a few lbs.
This year's christmas had a subtle atmosphere of mourning for all of us on the Chalupsky side. While there was much cheer, it is apparent that everyone is still slowly recovering their religious constitution. Faith is not easy. In fact I find it wearying at times beyond language. Still, my temptation is to hide inside disillusionment. The better path is not a circle. My path has been a circle for some time now. Quite frankly, I feel that the existance of myself, my wife, and my descendants teeters on my commitment to escape this cycle.
My love to all those of you who I call friends. I hope we can together abide.
